From design-builds to public-private partnerships (P3s), Paul is no stranger to alternative project delivery (APD) methods. In fact, he gravitates towards these project types, enjoying the faster pace over traditional project delivery methods and the ability to work directly with the contractor.
Throughout his experience working on APD projects, he’s learned that there are many ways to approach design and construction issues—and establishing a strong relationship with the contractor is critical. A perfect example of this is the South Fraser Perimeter Road project. During the project, Paul had such a strong working relationship with the contractor’s design manager, he invited Paul to dinner with his family. As a result, they worked through any design and construction issues together with ease, and the road was opened to the public six months ahead of schedule.
Outside of work, Paul enjoys a varied pace of life. He’s an avid runner—31 marathons and counting—and he also enjoys a good round of golf.
