Devoting much of the past 20 years of his career to research and practice in underground infrastructure, Erez has focused his work on the development of new condition assessment technologies as well as the design and analysis for underground construction—specifically in the use of trenchless methods.
Erez specializes in the design of complex horizontal directional drilling (HDD) crossings, soil-structure-liner interaction, and unique rehabilitation solutions for pressure pipes and large-diameter gravity pipes. He’s familiar with nearly 60 different rehabilitation systems, and he’s the inventor and holder of 17 patents in the fields of trenchless technology and material science.
Other than authoring papers on buried infrastructure management and pipeline installation using trenchless techniques (he’s written more than 260), Erez is a board member with the North American Society for Trenchless Technology, and served as a reviewer for numerous technical journals, technical conferences, and grant-awarding agencies.
