Christchurch Ōtautahi
Christchurch Ōtautahi
The 2010 Canterbury earthquake and the 2011 Christchurch earthquake shook our city in the literal and figurative senses. These events altered our skyscape, and impacted our community in countless ways. They also changed the shape of our business.
Though the devastation was huge, the powerful response was greater. The subsequent days, months, and years have seen Christchurch and the surrounding area come together for the greater good. For us, this initially meant rolling up our sleeves and getting into the streets, clearing debris. Then, in the long-term, it meant supporting our insurance client partners to process claims and ensure residents could get repairs done smoothly and safely. As a result, we have an experienced recovery arm of the business, ready and able to jump into action whenever and wherever nature strikes next.
Recovery is one important part of the work we do, but it’s not all we do. Our transportation team provides roads safety assessments throughout the Asia Pacific region, and advises our US operations as well. Our water team has collected a number of awards for its efforts, including the Eastern Selwyn Sewerage Scheme. We also offer environmental services, hydropower expertise, and more.
From our office opposite Hagley Park, our more than 100 staff are here to help Christchurch because we are Christchurch. That’s why we support the local Ronald McDonald House, as well as community replanting days and other charitable efforts. We’re members of this community, and we love where we live.
