Stantec adds Jason Whitlock as new Buildings practice leader

Global integrated design firm Stantec welcomes Jason Whitlock as the Buildings practice leader for the Denver market.  Whitlock brings more than 25 years of urban design, architecture and placemaking expertise to the role. He will be responsible for top-line strategy and performance, design and project delivery excellence, business planning, market position, and innovation strategy.

A common thread in Whitlock’s experience is a focus on pedestrian-scaled buildings and urban placemaking. Whitlock joins Stantec from the City and County of Denver’s Community Planning and Development, where he led urban design projects and gained an intimate understanding of the City’s people and processes. Under Whitlock’s direction, urban designers led placemaking studies for projects throughout Denver, such as 16th Street Mall’s $130-million reconstruction, that generated community excitement and the political support to be funded and implemented.

“My conviction is to create walkable, economically strong neighborhoods that are activated by pedestrian-oriented development,” Whitlock said. “I am eager to apply my experience to the practice leader role at Stantec. I look forward to collaborating with a team of talented designers to deliver exceptional work to our clients and communities.”

Whitlock received a Master of Architecture degree from Tulane University and attended Edinburgh College of Art and Architecture.
