Stantec forms Carbon Impact Team to support carbon neutral initiatives

Global integrated design firm Stantec is strengthening their commitment to helping clients and communities reach a carbon neutral, resilient future with their newly formed Carbon Impact Team, formerly the Sustainability and Building Performance Team. This cross-disciplinary team of specialists applies building science and design solutions to rapidly reduce the generation of carbon emissions in the built environment, increase resilience against climate risks, and have a positive impact on the socio-ecological health of our communities.

The Carbon Impact Team comprises experts in climate risk and resiliency, building performance modeling and engineering, energy management and building condition assessments, sustainable design and certifications, health and wellbeing consulting and certifications, and corporate ESG reporting.

The United States has rejoined the Paris Agreement which embraces the power of changing market expectations, and the belief that the transition to a carbon neutral future is inevitable. Stantec is seeing this transition accelerate in their respective markets and consulting opportunities every day. Currently over 200 municipalities in the U.S. alone, not to mention those in other countries, and key clients ranging from utilities to private companies have set net zero goals, climate action mandates, GHG reductions targets, renewables targets, or declared climate emergencies.

“Carbon emissions are responsible for climate change, which negatively impacts the health and livelihood of communities, disproportionately those communities who are most marginalized,” said Rachel Bannon-Godfrey, sustainability discipline leader for Stantec. “By more clearly aligning our work with the global market of carbon and climate market opportunities, the new Carbon Impact Team offers the design and analytics required to mitigate the impact of carbon emissions on our communities.”
