Stantec’s Transportation practice strengthens national ITS capabilities with the addition of Ron Pati

Ron Pati, PE, has joined Stantec as a senior intelligent transportation systems (ITS) manager for the leading global design and engineering firm’s transportation practice in Orlando, Florida. Pati will draw on his 32 years of transportation design experience to deliver growing ITS portfolios in the state and nationwide.
Tasked with managing the firm’s Florida ITS delivery portfolio, Pati will lead Stantec’s ITS Roads & Vehicles (R&V) practice in traditional ITS planning, design, and construction projects, while pursuing opportunities in various growth areas, such as connected and autonomous vehicle (CAV) systems and transportation management center operations.

Pati brings significant experience as a subject matter expert and program/project manager for large ITS projects throughout the Southeastern United States, as well as implementation of various types of advanced traffic control systems, including CAV systems. As a project manager, Pati has worked extensively in the areas of Advanced Traffic Management Systems covering both freeways and arterials, Advanced Traveler Information Systems, Electronic Toll Collection, and Tunnel Management Systems. Over the past decade, he has worked on several of Florida’s highest profile projects, serving as the one of ITS engineers of record (EOR) for the I-4 Ultimate/Express Lanes, in Orlando and I-95 Overland Bridge Design-Build in Jacksonville. He also directed the ITS design of the Port of Miami Tunnel ITS, as an SME for the project.
In addition to design, Pati has developed guidance documents for systems engineering in compliance with Federal Rule 940, wireline and wireless communications options, software platform selection, and supported system construction and integration for many of his projects. He is well versed in ITS planning studies, including the development of Concept of Operations, Systems Engineering Management Plans, regional and project ITS architectures, ITS master plan, feasibility and readiness studies, as well as, ITS Freeway and Arterial TMC Operations.
Pati earned a Master’s degree in civil engineering from Michigan State University and a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the National Institute of Technology in Bhopal, India. He is a member of ITS America and has published, moderated and presented in ITS World Congress held in the United States and Canada. Pati has also served on various national and state technical committees and volunteered for ITS World Congress and Florida Puerto Rico ITS meetings.
