Stantec Water Webinar Series – 2024 Presentation Schedule

August 28, 2024

Stantec’s experts are leading the dialog on industry trends, emerging technology, and best practices to confront water’s most pressing challenges

Hear from Stantec experts as they discuss leading-edge technologies and one water approaches from communities around the world, ask questions, and fulfill your professional development hours.

Each webinar will last for one hour and those in attendance will receive a certificate to submit for professional development hours or continuing education units.

Upcoming webinars:

September 18: Getting the Most Out of Your Water Storage Tank

Storage tanks are dynamic elements in your distribution system, requiring knowledge, maintenance, and protection. They provide fire protection capacity, pressure equalization during peak usage, and are a visible beacon of the distribution system. Properly sizing, maintaining, and operating your storage tanks helps provide optimum water quality to your customers.

Join Elise to better understand terminology, the inner workings of your tanks, when to model, and what data to collect are essential to getting your tanks working for you and your system.

Date: Wednesday, September 18, 2024
Time: 12:00 - 1:00 PM EST
Presenter: Elise DuBois

September 25: Innovative Wastewater Treatment Technologies—Balancing Nutrient Removal and Energy Management

In today’s water landscape, we need transformation. As part of that, it’s critical to convert wastewater treatment facilities into sustainable integrated resource recovery facilities (IRRFs). There are several steps to take to begin this journey, with one of the most important being to measure our current energy use and greenhouse gas footprints. Until recently, such an exercise was mostly subjective, relying on differing approaches, methods, and degrees of rigor. This is especially true for benchmarking of biological treatment systems. However, with the recent adoption of ISO standard 21939, objective benchmarks can now be used to evaluate the energy consumption of an IRRF.

Join Sandeep Sathyamoorthy to learn about the new ISO standard and implications for energy assessments. Discover the latest strategies and technologies used to balance targeted energy and GHG reduction while meeting stricter nutrient removal requirements. We will also talk about the operational aspects—such as complexity of operations and implications for instrumentation management—of some of these strategies and compare them with the energy benefits they offer.

PDH/CEUs will be distributed to those in attendance.

Date: Wednesday, September 25, 2024
Time: 12:00 - 1:00 PM EST
Presenter: Sandeep Sathyamoorthy

October 10: PFAS in Drinking Water—Source Water Assessments, Waste Treatment, and Operational Considerations for the New MCLs

New maximum contaminant levels have been established for PFAS in drinking water. Join Nicolle Boulay, Joseph Jacangelo, Liz Garvey, and Tyler Hadacek as they discuss the new regulations and upcoming actions for water utilities.

The team will discuss source water assessments including a case study example being initiated for the Potomac River in the DC-Metro area. Discover how to manage PFAS waste through various treatment methods for water treatment residuals and spent media. Explore current technologies, potential advancements, cost estimates for disposal and treatment, and important factors to consider when operating a PFAS treatment system for drinking water.

PDH/CEU certificates will be distributed for those in attendance.

Date: Thursday, October 10, 2024
Time: 1:30 - 3:00 PM EST
Presenters: Nicolle Boulay, Joseph Jacangelo, Tyler Hadacek, Liz Garvey
