Flint Community Schools - The Cube

Located in the Brownell-Holmes Neighborhood Association, the Brownell STEM Academy campus presented a number of opportunities for Flint Community Schools to expand their offerings. Awarded a grant from The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and  Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Funds, Flint Community Schools was able to undertake several projects on the campus. They reached out to our team of architects, designers, and engineers to help with one of these efforts: a compact, multipurpose facility—The Cube.

Situated next to the recently renovated Early Childhood Center, the two-story, 5,000-square-foot (465-square-metre) building offers a variety of small to medium-sized, flexible meeting spaces during school hours and after. We created areas that would be  adaptable, so they can serve as meeting rooms, classrooms, recreational facilities, and spaces for senior residents and after-school events. Centered around the theme of "spark, ignite, and community," our design for the interior boasts a vibrant color palette, custom artwork, new furniture, advanced technology, improved lighting, durable flooring, and ample natural light.

The Flint Center for Educational Excellence and the Brownell-Holmes Neighborhood Association will jointly support activities and programming in The Cube.
