Academy High School

The goal: a unique space with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). A place that gives high school students an innovative learning environment. Academy High School currently lives in a repurposed building, chosen for the aesthetic interior, as well as the significant cost savings of a repurpose versus a new build.

This facility teaches grades 9-12, which is unique in this district. Normally, campuses are split into high schools (grades 9 and 10) and senior high schools (grades 11 and 12).

The design is a completely open environment where learning is collaborative and immersive. There are no confined spaces or dedicated classrooms. Learning areas are large enough for an entire grade to collaborate on a project, or for students to build and construct to scale—both during and outside of scheduled classes.

The Academy is backed by founding corporate partner Texas Instruments, whose staff augment the learning process by working with the students every day, sharing their resources and expertise.
