An environmental chemistry specialist, Sean works with the sources, fate, regulation, and compliance of chemicals, primarily within the aquatic environment. He mainly focuses on phosphate, metals, and emerging chemicals of concern such as perfluorinated substances, pharmaceuticals and persistent organic pollutants.
With over 30 years of experience, Sean has the unique knowledge of working in both consultancy and academia. Previously a professor of environmental chemistry at the University of Plymouth, his academic skills and understanding see him published in over 100 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Sean’s key projects have focused on chemical compliance of wastewater discharges with Water Framework Directive requirements at a national level—he’s worked with UK Water Industry Research as well as individual water companies across England and Wales on investigations and desk-based research.
When he isn’t working, Sean spends his time out in the Devon countryside with family and friends, trail bike riding, fishing, and walking.
